Stirchley and Brookside residents have opportunity to view school plans
Residents in Stirchley and Brookside will have the opportunity to view the outline planning application and proposals for the rebuild of the Lord Silkin and Grange Park Primary School on Monday.

An outline planning application that proposes to completely rebuild of The Lord Silkin School and Grange Park Primary School in Stirchley centre has now been registered by Telford & Wrekin’s Planning Authority.
The community drop in event will be held at the Lord Silkin School, Stirchley and will allow local people with an interest to drop in any time from 4-6.30pm to view the proposals and planning application and meet those working on the project.
Over the next 13 weeks, the local community can log their comments with Telford & Wrekin Council’s Planning Authority by contacting Development Management, Telford & Wrekin Council, Darby House, Lawn Central, Telford, TF3 4JA or, calling 01952 380380, emailing planning.control@telford.gov.uk.
If approved, the Lord Silkin Secondary School will be replaced with a 600 place secondary school and plans also include a new-build 420 place Grange Park primary school, 32 place nursery, a 100 place Post-16 facility and extensive refurbishment of the existing Stirchley Leisure Centre.
The post 16 centre would allow for more young people leaving school in the south of the borough to further their skills and higher education.
If outline planning is granted, a full planning application will be submitted by newly appointed contractor, Shepherd Construction Limited following the development of a detailed design proposal for the site.
The community drop in session, organised by Telford & Wrekin Council and Shepherd Construction Limited, is one way that the local community can keep informed throughout the outline planning process.
Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “It is really exciting times for Telford & Wrekin as the BSF programme progresses and more schools are being significantly improved across the borough.
“Talking to local residents who have previously attended community drop in sessions on BSF, it is clear that the chance to ask burning questions and find out more about the programme is very helpful.
“I would therefore encourage as many people as possible to come along and view the outline planning application for the creation of the Lakeside Learning Community.”
The new Lakeside Learning Community will consist of The Lord Silkin School, Grange Park Primary School, Hollinswood Infant and Junior School, Randlay Primary School, Windmill Primary and Holmer Lake Primary School who are working together to carry the vision for the project forward.
