Two men this morning appeared in court charged with the murder of a Shrewsbury man.

Stewart Kevin Doran, 21, of Bainbridge Green, Harlescott and Bradley William Davies, 18, of no fixed abode appeared before Shrewsbury magistrates.

Both men are charged with the murder of 43-year-old Guy Benson Bebbington, between 5 and 7 September. The men were also charged with perverting the course of justice.

The pair spoke only to give their names and confirm their addresses.

They have been held in custody at Shrewsbury police station since their arrest by West Mercia Police detectives on Friday night.

A teenage girl, also been held in connection with the death since Friday, was released with no further action.

Mr Bebbington, of Beaufort Green, Shrewsbury, died in hospital on Friday just hours after being found with a head injury shortly before 1am on the old canal footpath between Ditherington Road and Telford Way.

They are both charged with the murder of Mr Bebbington, of Harlescott, Shrewsbury, between September 5 and 7. They are also charged with perverting the course of justice.

Doran and Davies were remanded in custody until they appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court on 17 September.
