Man arrested on suspicion of suspected arson In Dawley

The incident occurred at an address on Lancaster Avenue in the early hours of Saturday 15 September. At just after 1am, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a property on the street.

The fire service and police officers attended the scene with fire crews using hose reel jet and breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control, the fire was dealt with without anyone suffering any major injuries.

However, initial investigation work appears to suggest the fire was started deliberately in the letterbox.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Lancaster Avenue late on Friday night or early on Saturday morning, or anyone who believes they may know why this property was targeted.

The male arrested has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 62S 150912.
