Telford & Wrekin Council asked to push Donnington’s case to the MOD
Telford & Wrekin Council has been asked by the Ministry of Defence to put together a presentation setting out the development opportunities available at MOD Donnington.

The MOD is undergoing an overhaul of its Logistic Commodities and Services (LCS) section which will begin with an assessment phase.
The MOD says that it is important that it fully understands the opportunities and challenges available at its main sites and Telford & Wrekin Council has been asked to provide a written brief on the potential in Telford.
No decisions on the final operating model or locations will be made until the assessment phase is completed and this is expected to take a minimum of 12 months.
It is expected that the presentation by the council will be made either towards the end of 2012 or in early 2013.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Kuldip Sahota said: “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to show the MOD that Donnington represents a viable and attractive investment proposal which would deliver on all of the strategic objectives that they have set.
“Council officers have been working closely with MOD officials to ensure that they are aware of Donnington’s strengths and potential.
“Obviously it is very good news that we have been formally asked to put Donnington’s case forward and shows that all of the council’s hard work to date has been worthwhile. However, this is just one small step in what promises to be a very long road before final decisions are made.
“It is in keeping with our status as a Co-operative Council that we are dedicated to working in partnership with the MOD and the local community to safeguard and sustain Donnington as a valuable asset.
“We believe the Telford and Wrekin area has the skills, the workforce, the land, the infrastructure and the drive and desire to be a modern centre of excellence for logistics.
“We will do all we can to work with the MOD and partners to try and secure and enhance Donnington’s future.”
