Two remain in hospital following Weston Heath collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 10.25am on King Street in Weston Heath yesterday morning.

Three vehicles - a white Fiat Punto, green Volkswagen Passat and a white Ford Transit van - were involved in the collision, which resulted in the Punto colliding with the horse which was killed instantly.

The driver of the Punto - a 26-year-old man - remains in a critical condition in hospital today. The 36-year-old female rider of the horse is also in hospital where her condition is described as stable.

PC Simon Barnes from Shrewsbury police station is investigating the collision. He said: "The collision took place just before the junction with Damson Lane, on the road between Lilyhurst and Weston Heath.

"The Punto and the Passat were going along King Street heading towards the A41, while the horse and Transit van were travelling in the opposite direction.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision - or any of the vehicles beforehand - and can tell us exactly what happened."

Anyone with information about this incident can call PC Barnes on 0300 333 3000, quoting 38N 180912.
