Preliminary plans for a new residential scheme and open space on land at Morda Bank in Oswestry are on display at a public exhibition today.

Plans for new Oswestry residential scheme and open space go on show

The exhibition, which will be attended by members of David Wilson Homes’ project team, offers the opportunity for local residents to view, discuss and comment on the emerging plans. The feedback received from the local community will help inform and shape the proposals, prior to the submission of a planning application.

Initial plans consider that the site, which is adjacent to the existing built settlement, could accommodate approximately 85 new homes, comprising of two, three and four bedroom dwellings, including much needed affordable homes. The proposed layout is also seeking to safeguard a significant area of the site as new public open space to ensure the separation between the rural village of Morda and the town of Oswestry is maintained.

David Wilson Homes’ proposals are being brought forward in recognition that Shropshire Council is currently considering the district’s future housing needs, through the Core Strategy process, including the need for additional new homes at Oswestry.

Jon Rowson, Planning Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia commented:

“We hope that local people will be able to attend our consultation event. Hosting an exhibition whilst the plans are at this early stage provides the opportunity for the community to provide us with their feedback and comments, which will be fully considered and, where possible, incorporated into the plans as they are developed further”.

He added: “Local feedback is extremely important. Residents unable to attend the exhibition but who require further information can call our freephone information line – 0800 298 7040 – or view and comment on the preliminary plans via the project’s dedicated website - www.consultation-online.co.uk/mordabank - which will be available to view from 20th September”.

The preliminary plans will be displayed at Oswestry Cricket Club, Morda Road, Oswestry between 3.30pm and 7.30pm today.
