Police investigate after blood is found on Dana Steps in Shrewsbury
Police are appealing for witnesses and are concerned for the safety of an unknown person after blood was found in Shrewsbury this morning.

At around 7.30am, a local resident came across a large amount of blood on Dana Steps. Officers attended the scene and found further drops along the tow path next to the River Severn. Decreasing amounts of blood were found as far as Town Walls.
Inspector Graham Preece, who is investigating the incident, said: "I believe someone has either fallen or been assaulted on Dana Steps overnight. There is a good chance they could have been someone making their way home from the Buttermarket early this morning.
"Whoever was involved has lost a lot of blood and we are concerned about their welfare - local hospitals have not had anyone in A&E with matching symptoms so we are worried that someone could have been seriously injured and not sought medical help.
"I would like to hear from anyone who knows who was involved, even if it is to put our minds at rest and let the police know that they are OK, or any witnesses who saw what happened on Dana Steps or someone trying to make their way home last night. They could have appeared drunk when they were actually badly injured."
