Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following an incident on Stanley Road, near Wrekin College, early on Tuesday.

Man attempts to bundle woman into car during Wellington incident

At around 12.15am, as an 18-year-old woman - made her way home she was approached by a man who had been stood by a silver car near the college.

The man grabbed the woman and attempted to bundle her into the car before a second man got out of the car and tried to help the first man. As the second man tried to help he struck the woman in the face at least once.

The woman tried to fight the men off and then a dark coloured vehicle drove past the scene and at this point the two men released the woman, got into the silver car and made off.

A police spokesman said:

"The woman has been left very shaken by this incident and she immediately ran home and called the police after it.

"As a result of this incident the woman suffered bruising to her arms and face but no injuries that required medical treatment.

"Officers investigating this incident are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it and are particularly keen to trace the driver of the dark coloured car that approached the scene and caused the two men to flee.

"The driver of this vehicle is thought to have been female but she did not stop at the scene.

"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 118N 250912.

"Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 to leave information without identifying yourself."
