Man remains in critical condition following Telford stabbing

Police arrested a 34 year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Malinsgate Police Station, where he is still being questioned by detectives.

Officers are carrying out a number of inquiries and today appealed for potential witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Pete Brophy, who is investigating the incident, said he was keen for people with information to come forward and speak to police.

He said: "We believe that the victim was in the Three Furnaces pub earlier on during the night on Saturday with others, including some women. At some point an alleged altercation broke out within the pub. We are eager to speak to anyone who was in the pub at the time and witnessed the altercation. We also want to trace the women who were with the victim.

"In addition we want to speak to anyone who was in Harp Lane at around 4am and heard or saw anything that could help us with our investigation.

"If you have any information at all then it is imperative that you come forward and speak to the police."

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
