Final preparations are being made for a fashion show hosted by TV personality Carol Smillie in Shrewsbury this week.

Carol Smillie to host charity fashion show in Shrewsbury

Carol, who is best known for presenting the award-winning BBC series Changing Rooms, which won her a National Television Award, has agreed to compare at the charity event on October 6.

The show is being organised by sixth form girls at Shrewsbury School and aims to raise around £3,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Models will include Carol’s daughter Christie Knight (17), who is an A level student at the school, and other pupils, who will showcase fashions from retailers around Shrewsbury.

Christie commented: “We were really pleased when my mum said that she would host the show. She is looking forward to the event and helping to raise money for such a worthwhile charity. We aim to beat the fund raising target of £3,000.”

Boutiques including Wysteria Lane, Hayley J and Monsoon are providing the outfits for the event, to be staged in The Allington Hall. Vintage gowns from The Looking Glass of Bridgnorth will also be modelled.

Tickets are £10 / £7.50 concessions and available from Dawn Dunn in the school reception: 01743 280500 or reception@shrewsbury.org.uk and include a champagne reception at 7pm.
