Police are appealing for information after a teenage boy was assaulted as he played at a park in Telford with his friends.

Teenager assaulted in Telford park

The 13 year-old was at the park, off Wellington Road in Admaston at around 5pm on Monday, with two friends when they were approached by three unknown youths.

One of the group members assaulted the 13 year-old boy. The victim and his friends walked off.

However, the suspect group followed them and continued to assault the victim. They demanded his football and phone.

The teenager handed over his football but refused to hand over his mobile phone.

The group then handed the victim his football back and left.

Police are investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The victim suffered bruising to his face, head and body and also suffered a suspected fracture to his hand as a result of the assault.

"The suspects are described as 13 to 15 years-old and were on BMX bikes.

"We are hoping that somebody who was in the area at the time will have seen something and will come forward and speak to police."

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
