Olympian to present awards at school celebration evening
A Telford school will be welcoming a member of Team GB to speak about his Olympic experience at a special evening to celebrate the success of its' students.

Athlete Scott Overall, who competed in the marathon during London 2012, will be speaking to an audience of students, parents and teachers at the Lord Silkin School later this month.
The Awards Evening will celebrate the Stirchley school's second successive set of record GCSE results as well as individual achievement by students.
The Lord Silkin School in Stirchley achieved a 98 per cent pass rate for five or more GCSEs in August, with 44 per cent of pupils gaining five A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.
Headteacher, Trevor Goddard said: “Scott Overall knows only too well the dedication needed to fulfil ambition and the hard work which needs to go in to achieving great results.
“The awards evening is not only a chance to congratulate all of our students, but also an opportunity for them to hear about Scott's own journey to achievement. He will also be presenting prizes to the students.”
Scott Overall clocked the Olympic “A-Standard” by finishing fifth at his marathon debut in Berlin last year, propelling him to 24th on the all-time British rankings leading to officially being named on the GB Olympic team. He started marathon running less than a year before the London Games and finished in 2hrs 22mins, only 14 minutes behind the Stephen Kiprotich, who won Uganda's first ever medal in the marathon.
Mr Goddard added: “It will be an evening of true celebration for the school, it's been a fantastic 12 months. Not only did we gain national recognition from the representative organisation for schools, SSAT, which named us one of the best schools in England for the turnaround in our GCSE results but we were also named the most improved school in Telford & Wrekin.”
The awards evening, on October 18, will see a special presentation to former student who received 11 A*s and 5 As, in her GCSE examinations as well as scores of subject and special awards to students across all years.
