An international pen company has chosen a Shropshire shop to be the sole UK retailer of one of its most exclusive products.

Shrewsbury store becomes sole UK trader of exclusive pen

The ‘Dragon’ pen which is retails at £2,500 has arrived at Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street.

The limited edition writing instrument, which is elaborately decorated in red and gold, is crafted by Italian firm Visconti.

John Hall, who owns the specialist pen shop Write Here, said that he was delighted to be asked to sell the rare product.

“We have built up a good relationship with Visconti, even visiting their head office in Florence, and I am really pleased to be the only shop in the UK to have the Dragon pen – it is quite a coup for Shropshire,” he said.

“It is a stunning piece of work featuring some amazing detail and we are sure that it will generate a good deal of interest.

“Despite the popularity of texting and email, writing with a good fountain pen is rising in popularity and there are several collectors in the region who we think will be interested in this limited edition piece.”

The shop launched the pen at an open evening to mark the introduction of a completely revised Write Here website and a new corporate image.

John Hall added: “We have changed the appearance of our website and our logo to reflect increased customer interest in our pens.

“The shop is becoming known as a pen specialist, with sales in this sector increasing year on year - especially fountain pens,” he explained.
