Fault temporarily closes refurbished Telford Ice Rink
A fault with plant machinery at Telford’s newly refurbished ice rink this morning forced the cancellation the 10.30 – 12.30 ice skating session.
The rink was forced to close after plant machinery stopped chilling the ice when the outside temperature dropped overnight.
The rink was opened by Telford Tigers’ ice hockey team’s first home game of the last Sunday.
The £4m refurbishment of the Ice Rink will not be fully completed until a new soft play area opens at the end of November, Telford & Wrekin Council is set to announce the preferred bidder in the next couple of weeks.
The refurbishment has seen major internal and external improvements carried out by contractor Morgan Sindall as part of the broader £250m redevelopment of the Southwater area of the town centre.
