Post box celebrating Micky Bushell to remain gold

The post box located on Arleston Avenue in Telford was chosen by Micky himself, will also have a plaque installed to mark his gold medal achievement.

The decision to keep the post boxes gold marks the first time in Royal Mail’s history that it has painted its iconic post boxes a different colour permanently to mark an historic achievement.

Moya Greene, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Mail Group, said; "We are delighted at the way people took to this simple idea.

"The gold post boxes gave communities even more opportunity to mark the successes of Team GB and Paralympics GB - and became a part of local celebrations of London 2012 across theUK. I am pleased to confirm that these post boxes will be kept gold permanently."

Roared on by a capacity crowd at the Olympic Stadium, Bushell won Gold in style racing away from the field to capture the T53 100m title in a Paralympic record of 14.75 seconds.
