Police in Telford are investigating after a man suffered a head injury whilst being robbed on the junction of Bank Road and Orchard Way in Wellington on Sunday.

Police investigate Wellington robbery

At just after 8.15pm the victim locked up his shop on Mill Bank and made his way back to his car on Orchard Way.

The victim got into his vehicle but then, without warning two men holding metal bars pulled open the doors and threatened him. The men are described as being around 5ft 6inches tall, as wearing dark clothing and as having their faces covered.

A police spokesman said:

"The two men demanded money from the victim and then one of them hit him with a metal bar. The victim quickly handed over around £200 to the men and they then made off up Bank Road towards Mill Bank.

"As a result of this incident the victim suffered a gash to his head that required hospital treatment.

"Police are currently looking for possible CCTV evidence in the area and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this robbery, or anyone who may have seen the two offenders running along Bank Road or Mill Bank after it."

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact officers in CID in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 554S 111112.

Alternatively, please remember Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without getting directly involved yourself.
