After winning seven gold medals in nine years, Ludlow in Bloom is set to be even better next year.

Ludlow in Bloom set to Blossom in 2013

That’s the message from Viv Parry, chairman of the organising committee. “The scheme is going from strength to strength,” she said. “Next year, we’d like to involve even more companies, pubs, schools, residents and other groups.”

At the annual general meeting last Friday, the committee agreed to launch a supporters’ scheme of corporate and associate members. Viv explains: “We want residents and businesses to pledge their support the scheme. They’ll become associate and corporate members. Membership will be entirely free. We are simply looking for pledges of support and perhaps a helping hand when things get busy.”

The supporters’ scheme will be launched in the New Year.

Ludlow in Bloom is also looking for ideas for next year’s displays. “We are open to ideas. People might have particular colours, plants or themes they would like to see. They might like to see displays in particular places. We are very keen to get more pubs involved.”

This year, the Heart of England in Bloom judges praised not just the planting in public places but also the high quality of residential gardens. They were also impressed by the enthusiasm of the volunteers that looked after the planting, and the commitment of the town council and local businesses.

People with ideas or wanting further information should contact Viv on 01584 873604 or viv.parry@gmail.com.
