A rockfall at Jiggers Bank following the recent heavy rain is set to keep the road closed beyond this weekend.

Jiggers Bank to remain closed as work to stabilise rockface continues

During the closure a diversion will continue in operation using the Buildwas bypass from Dale End.

The collapse follows the recent heavy rains, and engineers have been forced to remove more than 40 tonnes of debris to start to make the rockface stable.

The rockfall is in an area some distance away from where engineering works took place earlier this month and had not been subject to rockfalls in recent years.

Engineers have also found a further section of rock that could collapse and will need to remove or stabilise this before the road can re-open.

Telford & Wrekin Council had hoped to open the road this weekend, but are now unsure of when it will be reopened at this time.
