Police have appealed for help in identifying a lorry and its occupants involved in the theft of a £2,000 skip from Wem.

Thieves steal skip from Wem Business Park

CCTV images of what is believed to be a distinctive Ford Iveco truck, possibly purple in colour, with the stolen skip on the back have been released by officers.

The large, rectangular yellow skip, which at 15ft long and 8ft wide weighs over a tonne, was loaded onto the vehicle from Wem Business Park in New Street just before 7pm on Friday. It was reported to police as stolen on Monday.

The lorry is seen on CCTV to load the skip onto the back using a built-in crane before driving out of the site, when it is believed to have turned into Shrewsbury Road and headed out of town.

Police Constable Mark Hobden, who is investigating the theft, appealed for anyone who might recognise the vehicle on the CCTV images or knows who owns it to contact police on 101.

The lorry with the skip on the back."The lorry is quite distinctive and looks like it might be purple, dark red or blue in colour, with a roof light bar, a crane behind the cab and ‘Recovery' written on the front," he said.

"If anyone knows who this vehicle belongs to or of its whereabouts now, please contact police on 101.

"Information can also be passed on anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, where operators do not even ask for your name and a reward is sometimes offered."
