Newport community ambulance station officially opens
A new Community Ambulance Station is today being officially opened in the grounds of Newport Cottage Care Centre.

The opening of the new station is part of West Midlands Ambulance Service’s ‘Make Ready’ project which has seen the creation of a new ambulance fleet preparation and maintenance hub at the former Donnington Ambulance Station in Donnington, Telford.
A new network of community ambulance stations has been established across Shropshire, replacing the traditionally owned ambulance stations and almost double in their number. Community Ambulance Stations have also been introduced to areas of the county which previously did not have a station of their own, such as Newport where the town’s fire station was previously used as an ambulance response post.
Work is currently underway on the creation of a further hub on Abella Business Park in Shrewsbury.
