Work begins on new £400,000 Shrewsbury plant centre
Work is underway on a £400,000 specialist plant centre within the grounds of Salop Leisure’s headquarters in Shrewsbury.

The company, based alongside Shrewsbury bypass at Emstrey, will create six new jobs within the first year at the 4,500 square feet centre, to be called ‘Love Plants’, which is scheduled to open in early March.
The centre is being developed in association with Derwen Garden Centre and Dingle Nurseries, well established businesses in Guilsfield, near Welshpool, who will supply the majority of the plants.
“Love Plants will be run by a team of experienced horticulturists who have fantastic plant knowledge, understand the needs of gardeners and deliver good old fashioned, friendly customer service,” said Salop Leisure’s chairman Tony Bywater.
“It will be one of the most exciting horticultural projects that has been developed in Shrewsbury. We are going to stock a fantastic selection of quality plants, including large and specimen varieties.
“This will be a specialist plant centre where customers can buy top quality plants and receive great advice from knowledgeable staff on a wide range of topics, including garden design.”
A centre’s manager is set to be appointed in January. Love Plants will take Salop Leisure’s investment in the company’s headquarters to £10 million over the past six-and-a-half years.
