Police continue to search for missing Shrewsbury woman

Emma Bennett, 39, was last seen by her mother in Sydney Avenue, Castlefields, close to the weir on the evening of Friday 28th December 2012.

She was in a distressed and agitated state and both her family and police remain extremely concerned for her welfare.

Sergeant Stuart Wells, who is overseeing the search for Miss Bennett, said following a week of searching, enquiries would now be focussed around the streets and river where she was last seen.

"She was last seen wearing dark clothing, possibly black leggings and a black jacket. She is white, about 5ft 2in tall and has dark blonde hair," he said.

"The river itself remains extremely high at the moment and searched of it will take place as soon as water levels recede to safe levels, which is likely to be in the coming days.

"In the meantime, accessible areas close to the river continue to be searched by police."

Anyone who might have seen Ms Bennett in Sydney Avenue or the surrounding area that night or since is asked to contact police on 101.
