Woman seriously injured after colliding with car in Highley
A woman has been taken to a Major Trauma Centre with serious head injuries after having been in collision with a car in Shropshire.

The incident took place near The Severn Centre, Bridgnorth Road, Highley at just before 7.00pm last night.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The initial assessment showed the woman has suffered facial injuries and had been knocked out for around five minutes.
“Given the feedback from the ambulance staff on scene, the advanced paramedic on the Regional Trauma Desk requested that the crew take the patient directly to the Major Trauma Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, rather than to a Shropshire hospital.
“The trauma desk also tasked the MERIT Trauma Doctor to meet up with the crew en-route to hospital. He was able to give the patient additional drugs while he travelled with the crew to major trauma centre.
“The patient had suffered significant head injuries, a serious arm injury and cuts and bruises all over. She was later anaesthetised at hospital due to her condition.
“This is an excellent example of the new trauma capability working effectively to get the patient the right level of care as soon as possible. The doctor has confirmed that the patient would definitely have needed a secondary transfer to a major trauma centre has she not been taken there directly.”
