Police in Telford are investigating after a number of cars were broken into in St Georges earlier this week.

Vehicle crime spree in St Georges investigated

The incidents all occurred between 8pm on Tuesday 8 January and 8am on Wednesday 9 January.

The first incident reported to us on Wednesday morning occurred on Bromley Way where thieves smashed the rear window on the driver's side of the car to gain access to it.

They stole the stereo and a pair of sunglasses from the silver Vauxhall Astra before fleeing the scene.

Five further incidents were reported to police in a number of different streets in St Georges.

On Stafford Street two cars were broken into and a Mio satellite navigation system and a car stereo were stolen, while car stereos were also taken from cars parked on Hollybirch Grove and Atholl Drive. In addition, a JVC CD/DVD player was stolen from a car that was parked up on Old Toll Gate in St Georges.

At least £200 of damage has been caused to every car that was targeted during this spree.

In each of these incidents windows were smashed to gain entry to the cars and police are very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen an individual or individuals behaving suspiciously around vehicles in this area on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Police are making extra patrols in St Georges to provide reassurance to local people and also to investigate these incidents.

Anyone who believes they may have information about these incidents is asked to call police in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000 quoting incident number 215S 090113.
