Shrewsbury Flower Show blossoms in national survey
A survey carried out by popular consumer magazine Which? has named Shrewsbury Flower Show in the ‘Top Ten Best Gardening Shows in the UK’.

The poll revealed that, of 2,300 readers, 78% rated the show to be ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’, ranking it 6th on the leader board, above acclaimed shows including the Chelsea Flower Show.
The show was singled out by respondents as being ‘great for value’ for money, with ‘an enjoyable programme of events’. Those polled also commented that ‘non-gardeners should also find enough to occupy a whole day and into the evening’.
The majority of readers stated that it is also one of the few shows that is child-friendly, with a dedicated children’s area and entertainment running throughout the Show
Readers also praised the Show for its good choice of quality plants and variety of shopping opportunities on offer from outlets such as the Marches Food Hall and over 350 trading stalls - selling a variety of goods ranging from clothing to garden tools.
Shropshire Horticultural Society Chairman, Brian Goodwin, said: “I am delighted with this accolade. As we enter our 126th year it’s refreshing to know that our visitors continue to enjoy the event, and that we have succeeded in our efforts to make it a great value day out for the whole family.”
Taking place on the 9th and 10th of August, organisers say the 126th Shrewsbury Flower Show is set to be bigger and better than ever with over three million blooms, fabulous food, celebrity guests and live entertainment.
As well as fantastic floral displays, horticultural competitions and trade stands, celebrity horticulturist Chris Beardshaw will be on hand to inspire even the most green of gardeners with hints and tips. For lovers of all things gastronomic, the Marches Foodhall will be a food lovers paradise, with celebrity superstar baker Paul Hollywood hosting live demonstrations, and a collection of the UK’s finest food producers all in one place.
For arena entertainment, expect spectacular displays from show jumpers, the Royal Signals White Helmet motorcycle team, a show stopping fire work display and performances from renowned folk band Bellowhead.
