Man stabbed during altercation with woman in Telford

The incident occurred as the victim - a 24-year-old man - and his friend left the Duke of York public house to go to the Dun Cow on Trench Road near Stratford Park between 11.25 and 11.45pm.

The man was immediately rushed to hospital in North Staffordshire were he is likely to require surgery, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A police spokesman said: “It appears the victim and his friend had been drinking in the Duke of York before making their way to the Dun Cow. It is outside the Dun Cow that this assault occurred.

"The scene of this assault has been cordoned off while forensic investigators examine the area for possible evidence.

"At the present time only a brief description of the offender is available. The offender is described as being a white female, aged in her early 20s, around 5ft 8inches tall and as having a slim build.

"She is also described as wearing dark leggings, a dark coat and high heels.

"Officers investigating this incident are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed it. However, they are also keen to speak to anyone who was drinking in the Duke of York or the Dun Cow last night as there is the possibility people may have information that could aid the investigation without actually realising it.

"Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident, or who was in either of the two pubs last night, is asked to contact officers in CID in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 632S 160113.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without identifying yourself."
