Oswestry Festival of the World launches to packed audience
The 2013 Oswestry Festival of the Word was last night launched by Booker Long-listed author, Rachel Joyce, in front of a packed audience at The Walls restaurant.

Festival Director, John Waine, revealed this year’s Festival programme in front of a packed house of literary enthusiasts.
The fourth Oswestry Festival of the Word will take place over eleven days from Saturday 9th – Tuesday 19th March 2013 and features a glittering line up of internationally acclaimed writers, poets, performers.
Topping and tailing a stimulating programme this year is former Children’s Laureate and best-selling author, Michael Morpurgo, and the former English Poet Laureate, Sir Andrew Motion. In between are a Whitbread Book of the Year winner, an appointment with a Dalek, an alien in underpants, Toad of Toad Hall and a clutch of inspirational writers, journalists, poets and musicians.
Brought to Oswestry LitFest courtesy of Morris Cook Chartered Accountants, Mr. Morpurgo, whose book War Horse is one of the global publishing sensations of the 21st century, will read extracts from his best-seller and a selection of other titles at The Marches School on Sunday 10th March at 3 pm.
Sir Andrew Motion will bring an exciting, eclectic and engagingly eccentric Festival programme to a close on Tuesday 19th March at 7.30pm with a performance of poetry alongside the Endellion String Quartet at Holy Trinity church as part of the Oswestry School Recital Series.
Oswestry LitFest Organiser, John Waine, from The Best of Oswestry website, declared: “We’ve put together another wonderfully varied programme this year and are truly honoured to have two literary giants, Michael Morpurgo and Sir Andrew Motion, opening and closing the Festival. Having two of England’s most admired Laureate’s here in Oswestry is just mind-blowing and demonstrates the impact the Oswestry Festival of the Word is having on the wider literary arena.”
“The clamour for Festival tickets has surprised us all and we are pleased once again to have kept ticket prices to very affordable rates and include some free as well as ‘pay what you can afford’ performances,” said John.
