Warning issued to Shropshire motorists following spate of collisions
Police in Shropshire have renewed warnings for motorists to only to travel if absolutely necessary after almost a dozen crashes across the county in a three-hour period.

As heavy snow continues to fall in the county, many roads remain treacherous with those in South Shropshire worst affected at this time. Even major routes, despite overnight gritting, could prove hazardous.
Reports have already been received of cars being abandoned on the A458 near Much Wenlock and of two lorries blocking the A454 Bridgnorth to Wolverhampton road having become stuck in the snow. The A4117 between the A49 and Cleobury Mortimer has been closed.
Between 7.15am and 10.15am, at least 11 collisions were reported, many of them as a result of the weather.
Chief Inspector Paul Moxley, from Shropshire's Command Team, said police had brought in additional 4x4 vehicles across the county.
"We are continuing to attend emergency incidents and in addition to our usual 4x4s, we have brought in extra to ensure we remain operational," he said.
"Roads in the south of the county are worst affected at the moment but the snow is forecast to continue for several hours yet and other major routes elsewhere are also treacherous.
"Many motorists are having to abandon their cars after becoming stuck in the snow and we would urge people to reconsider any non-essential journeys.
"In short, don't drive anywhere unless you have no other choice. If you must travel on the roads, make sure your vehicle is in good running order, leave early, take extra care and slow down. Avoid harsh braking and keep a good distance from the vehicle in front.
"Make sure you have emergency supplies if you do get stuck or break down, such as a hot drink, food, warm clothing, boots, a first aid kit, blankets, a torch, ice scraper, jump leads and a shovel. Fully charge your mobile phone before heading out."
