Newdale nursery hailed as “outstanding”

A Telford nursery which has been managed by staff at an adjacent primary school since September has been rated as “outstanding” by Government inspectors.

Newdale Nursery and Out Of School Club was taken over by the Governors and Headteacher of Newdale Primary with the view of providing children with the best possible start to their education.

Staff and Governors have worked relentlessly to create a nursery that the inspection report says “provides a highly stimulating environment for children which enables them to enjoy learning and make excellent progress.”

Primary School Headteacher, Rachel Cook, said: “We were really keen to take over the management of the nursery because we knew it would ensure even tighter cross phase working and seamless transition into the school setting.

“The Ofsted inspection took place after we’d been in control of the nursery for only three months so we are absolutely delighted to receive such a fantastic report.”

Carole Williams, Chair of the school Governors, said: “We were very keen to foster the fact that children learn best when they are happy, valued and encouraged to take risks and face challenges within the safety of the nursery setting.

“We are delighted that all of the hard work and excellent provision for the very youngest children at Newdale has been recognised and look forward to seeing the nursery grow strength to strength.”

The report added: “All children make excellent progress and are fully equipped with a vast range of skills in readiness for school.

“Children of all ages laugh and giggle as they enjoy their time at the nursery and learn without realising it because they are having so much fun.

“There is a true partnership between the setting and the family that benefits each child.”

Nursery Manager, Ruth Morgan, said: “It is great to see the children progressing so quickly. Newdale Nursery children will definitely hit the ground running when they move into school.

“We are all delighted with the Ofsted report and will continue to work together with parents to ensure the best possible provision.”

Councillor Paul Watling, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone associated with Newdale Nursery and the Primary School on this fantastic report. It is testament to the hard work that has been put in since September.”
