Former Madeley Court School site to be sold to Aldi
Telford & Wrekin Council is set to sell part of the old Madeley Court Secondary School site for an Aldi supermarket to be built.

The development will be subject to a planning approval and will complement the KFC and doctor’s surgery developments, which already have planning permission. Works to create the new access to the site off Parkway is due to start at the end of February.
The investment is likely to create a number of jobs and Telford & Wrekin Council is making £150,000 available from the sale to invest in the centre of Madeley.
The council says it will be working closely with Madeley Regeneration Partnership and Madeley Town Council to agree how this money is spent.
The planning application has just been submitted with work likely to start in the early summer, assuming the scheme gets approval.
The first phase of the development namely the new KFC Drive through and Doctors surgery are due to be completed by Autumn 2013.
The development follows earlier regeneration schemes in the centre of Madeley and reflects Telford & Wrekin Council’s ongoing commitment to regenerate the area’s borough towns.
Councillor Richard Overton, cabinet member with special responsibility for Borough Towns Development, said: “This represents a major partnership with an expanding retailer that will further regenerate Madeley and provide a much needed discount food retailer in the south of the town.”
An Aldi spokesperson said: “We are excited to have submitted plans for a new 990sqm store in Madeley, Telford, and hope to create approximately 30 jobs.
“The new store is expected to open for Christmas 2013 and we are looking forward to bringing local shoppers brand-like quality products at everyday low prices.”
