Arrests made in Telford as part of police operation
Police and Community Support Officers from several of Telford’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams have this morning been involved in executing a number of warrants across the borough as part of Operation Action.

From 7am this morning, police executed warrants at addresses in Hadley, Wellington and Overdale. Two men aged 28 and 22 and a woman aged 47 – were arrested on suspicion of various drugs offences. A number of items that appear to be connected to the use or supply of drugs were seized.
Three further arrests were made in relation to robbery offences being investigated by police. Three men – aged 18, 19 and 29 are currently in custody in Shrewsbury.
The latest operation comes on the back of 'Operation Astra' last week, that operation saw police in Telford targeting travelling criminals and those people using vehicles to carry out acquisitive crime.
Superintendent Nav Malik, Police Commander in Telford, said:
“We will not tolerate criminality and the use of illegal drugs in Telford and I hope the three arrests we made in relation to drugs offences demonstrate this fact. Drugs are at the centre of most criminal activity and if we receive information that drugs are being used, we will seize the substances and prosecute.
“The warrants executed this morning as part of Operation Action are related to a number of ongoing investigations but, more specifically, the drugs warrants are the latest in a number that have been issued and executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act across the Borough over the past year.
“We take drug crime very seriously and act on any information received from members of the public. Our Safer Neighbourhood Teams play a key role in tackling this type of crime as they are the eyes and ears of West Mercia Police in local communities and are often the source of the information we act upon.
“Anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes - or criminality of any sort - should call us immediately. However, we acknowledge that some people do not want to get involved or give their name, so Crimestoppers provides the means for anyone to pass information about suspicious activity or crime with a guarantee of anonymity.
“It is important that people call us with information, because it is ultimately their help that enables us to carry out operations and make arrests - therefore helping us to disrupt, prevent and detect crime. Information can be passed to Police directly by calling 101 or 0300 333 3000, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
A total of 27 police officers and CSOs were involved in the operation.
