Police in Telford are investigating the unexplained death of a woman in Brookside.

Investigation launched following unexplained death in Telford

The investigation was launched when the woman's body was discovered after police officers forced their way into an address on Blakemore at just before 4pm yesterday afternoon after a concern for welfare call.

As of yet the woman – who is believed to be in her mid 20s – has not been formally identified.

Speaking about this investigation, Detective Inspector Mike Nally from CID in Telford, said:

“We can confirm we are investigating the unexplained death of a woman whose body was found at a property in Brookside yesterday afternoon.

“The investigation is at a relatively early stage and a cordon remains in place at the scene at the present time. Forensic officers are working at the scene as we attempt to establish the exact cause of the woman’s death and a post mortem will be taking place as soon as possible.

“At this stage the exact cause of the woman’s death is not clear.

“I’d like to reassure local residents that a significant number of resources are involved in the investigation into this unexplained death and that we will release more information about it when it becomes available.

“Officers will be carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area during the course of the day and we would ask local people to come forward with any information they have that they feel could aid our investigation.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident, or who witnessed anything that could be linked to this death, is asked to call West Mercia Police as soon as possible on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 326S 110213.

“Alternatively, please remember Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself.”
