Draft Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan out for consultation

Much Wenlock residents are being asked whether the proposed Neighbourhood Plan is hitting the right notes.

Draft Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan out for consultation

The draft Plan is out for consultation until 3rd April 2013 before it is formally submitted to Shropshire Council and an independent assessment.

Councillor Mike Grace, Chairman of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, said:

“When we launched the Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan over a year ago, we wanted to create a Plan that would help shape the future of our town and parish from the community’s aspirations. The local community gave a great response. People shared their opinions in the early meetings and roadshows, in the Residents Survey last Spring and most recently during our events held in January. We believe we have drafted the Plan in the way that the community wants. Before going further we would like to know whether we have got it right.”

The draft Plan and a response form can be found online at www.wenlockplan.org. Paper copies of both are available at Much Wenlock Library and the Town Council’s office in Much Wenlock High Street. The consultation period lasts six weeks and the community has until Wednesday 3rd April 2013 to suggest any changes to the draft Plan. Responses may be posted to the Town Council or e-mailed to mail@wenlockplan.org.

Mike Grace added:

“We think the draft Plan proposes new development and policies to protect the unique quality of our town and parish which the local community has said it wants. This formal consultation is an important opportunity to tell us if we should make any changes and, if so, what these should be. Of course, we’d also welcome people telling us that they support what the draft Plan is proposing.”
