Crimewatch appeal regarding Shrewsbury publican provides police with new leads
Police are following up new leads following a Crimewatch appeal on the whereabouts of former Shrewsbury pub landlord John Cattermole.

Cattermole is suspected of staging a burglary at the Monkmoor Hotel and had been arrested in April 2010 on suspicion of theft and perverting the course of justice.
After being given police bail to return to Shrewsbury Police Station a month later, he failed to show up and police believe he has gone into hiding and could be anywhere in the country.
Extensive enquiries, including media appeals with his photograph, have failed to trace him and on Thursday 14th February 2013, he was featured on Crimewatch’s ‘Wanted’ board.
Police Constable Jason Tierney, the investigating officer who travelled down to the television studios in Cardiff to assist with any calls from the public, said police had several new leads to follow up as a result.
“Mr Cattermole has now been on the run for almost three years and despite extensive enquiries with other police forces and agencies, he has yet to be found,” he said.
“However, we had a good response to the appeal on Crimewatch and will be following up new leads.
“He is 54, about 5ft 7in in height and was of heavy build with short brown hair. If anybody knows his whereabouts or believes they have seen him, please contact police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.”
Cattermole was arrested on 25th April 2010, just a few hours after reporting the pub he was running had been burgled, with £2,800 in cash stolen and £1,500 worth of spirits.
He claimed an empty beer keg had been used to smash a window by intruders but was arrested on suspicion of theft from his employer and perverting the course of justice.
