Police are seeking witnesses following daylight burglaries at two Shrewsbury homes. The breakins happened yesterday at a house in Mill Road and at a bungalow in Ebnal Road.

In both incidents, an untidy search was made throughout the premises as the intruders searched for valuables.

Jewellery worth more than £2,000 was stolen from the house in Mill Road. Entry was gained between 11am and 1.45pm by smashing two windows.

A platinum eternity ring made of smaller rings interlaced with diamonds and valued at £1,800 was stolen together with 20 assorted silver rings. Damage was also caused to furniture.

The burglary at Ebnal Road happened between 9.15am and 3.45pm when a patio door was smashed. Various rooms were searched and checks are still being made to establish what was taken.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Both burglaries were carried out during daylight hours in residential areas. We are appealing for witnesses to come forward if they spotted anyone acting suspiciously at either location.

“We are also urging anyone offered rings or other jewellery for sale in dubious circumstances to make contact.

“Information should be forwarded to Shrewsbury police station on 101, or alternatively, contact the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
