Police are investigating two house burglaries in neighbouring homes at Wem, together with two attempted break-ins in the same area.

Witnesses appeal following Wem burglaries

All four incidents happened late on Friday night or during the early hours of Saturday morning and involved windows being forced.

Entry was gained at two houses in Cordwell Park. In the one instance a handbag and £40 were stolen while in the second, £80 was taken including £30 in 5p pieces.

A window was jemmied at two other properties, in Aston Road and Chapel Street, but no entry was gained.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “These crimes are being linked. It’s likely the same offenders were responsible.

“We are appealing for any information which might help identify them. In particular, if you spotted anyone behaving suspiciously in any of these locations late on Friday night or during the early hours of Saturday, do contact Wem police on 101.

“Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
