Turnaround project set to help teenagers in Telford & Wrekin
A programme funded by European Social Fund aimed at helping to motivate young people to take part in different activities to improve their employability skills is set to start again in Telford and Wrekin.
The first drop in session for people to find out more about the Turnaround project takes place today between 2-4pm with another at the same time on March 6.
The Turnaround project is aimed at teenagers aged 16-18, and up to 24 if the learner has a learning difficulty or disability. It has the aim of helping young people to look for employment or training opportunities and taking part in art, sports and leisure activities.
Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “This is an excellent project that seeks to help young people to make the most of the opportunities available to them and to help them raise their aspirations to do more with their lives.
“I hope anyone who has left school and feels they need a bit of direction will look into taking part because Turnaround provides plenty of opportunities.”
The project actually starts on Tuesday March 12 and then runs every Tuesday and Wednesday between 10am-4pm with all sessions taking place at the Turnaround project in Woodside.
Teenagers who are interested in taking part should contact the Turnaround team on 01952 388830 or text their name and the word TURNAROUND to 07528 979386.
