Thieves have stolen high value items including two electric guitars and jewellery, and caused up to £6,000 of damage during a burglary at a home near Shrewsbury yesterday.

Guitars and jewellery stolen from home near Shrewsbury

The house in Somerwood, near Uffington, was broken into between about 9am and 3.10pm.

Among the items stolen are a pale brown Epiphone Les Paul electric guitar, worth about £500 and a tobacco-coloured Vester Stratocaster, worth about £200, along with the leads for both.

A 42-inch LG television and 22-inch Technika television were also taken, in addition the several items of jewellery.

The jewellery included a gold Rotary ladies’ watch and matching bracelet, a 22-carat gold, ruby and diamond ring, a diamond and ruby gold eternity ring, a gold ring with a turquoise stone and diamonds set either side and a signet ring with a single small diamond inset.

Damage to doors, windows and a leather sofa as the offender or offenders gained entry is estimated to cost around £6,000 to repair.

Detective Inspector Pete Brophy, from Shropshire’s Pro-Active Burglary Unit, said the burglary took place in broad daylight and the offenders would have likely needed a vehicle to transport the stolen items.

“If anybody was in the area during that day and saw any persons or vehicles that appeared to be acting suspiciously, please contact the police on 101,” he said.

“We are also keen to hear from anybody who might have been offered any of the items stolen for sale, with the guitars in particular fairly distinctive.

“If you have information but want to remain anonymous, please call the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, where call-takers do not even ask for your name.”
