A couple from Ludlow have today picked up a cheque for £6,299,421 after winning the UK Lotto jackpot.

Robin and Christine Kiddie, both 60, picked up the rollover jackpot prize after matching all six numbers in Saturday’s lottery draw.

Robin and Christine, who have lived in Ludlow for the last seven years and are originally from Lancashire, did not know they were the winners until Monday when Robin checked the ticket whilst at work. He asked a work colleague to double check the numbers.

Robin had purchased from the Tesco in Kidderminster, he chose the numbers from a combination of family birthdays and old pools numbers. The winning numbers were 2, 16, 25, 30, 31 and 32.

They couple told their children of their win first via a text message, stating simply, “Good news, we have just won £6.3 million on the lottery.”

Speaking at a press conference at Fishmore Hall in Ludlow, Robin stated, “I still can’t quite believe it”.

After telling their four grown up children and five grandchildren the good news, Robin has said he plans to retire from his job as a commercial and export sales manager. Christine, a nurse at Ludlow Hospital, has not decided if she will retire.

The pair plans to buy a new Mercedes with the money, plus take a trip back to their favourite city which is Rome.

Christine said she is delighted the money will provide long term security for her children.
