Work will begin on Monday to resurface a number of roads across Shropshire as part of a £2m programme of investment by Shropshire Council.

Shropshire roads to be resurfaced as part of £2m programme

The work is aimed at improving the condition of the county’s road network and is scheduled to be completed in time for the Easter weekend.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways, said:

“This work represents a significant investment by the council in some of the county’s most important roads. It’s vital that we continue to invest in our roads so that people can travel safely, quickly and easily, whether they are commuting to work, driving to the shops, taking the children to school, or travelling for pleasure.

“Though it will cause some disruption to road users, I ask drivers to bear with us while this important work is carried out, as they will certainly see the benefits once it’s finished.”

Letters have been sent to people living in the areas close to the planned works, and information signs have been put in place.

An assessment of roads across the county was carried out to determine which roads would benefit most from the investment.

The work is being funded through Shropshire Council’s Local Transport Plan road maintenance grant.
