Police in Telford are appealing for information after a theft in Hortonwood, at a vehicle exhibition business.

Fuel taken and thousands of pounds worth of damage caused in Hortonwood theft

The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 5.30pm on Monday 4 March and 7.30am on Tuesday 5 March.

Sometime overnight it appears thieves broke into the yard at the factory premises on Hortonwood 33 by cutting a large hole in the perimeter fencing.

Once inside the yard the thieves approached a number of vehicles that were parked up and then stole around 800 litres of fuel in total from several of them.

They also approached and forced entry to two or three exhibition trailers that were in the yard and from one of the trailers the thieves stole a 42inch LG, flat screen television.

In total, almost £2000 of property was stolen as a result of this break-in, while it is estimated the vehicles and trailers suffered several thousand pounds worth of damage as the thieves tried to gain access by forcing open doors or windows.

Officers investigating this incident are very keen to speak to anyone who believes they may have information about it, especially anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Hortonwood 33 area on Monday night.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting reference number 97S 050313.
