Planning go-ahead for new homes in Ellesmere

The Wrekin Housing Trust has been granted planning permission by Shropshire Council to build 11 new affordable homes for rent on Wharf Road in Ellesmere.

The development will consist of seven two-bedroom houses and four three-bedroom houses, and the Trust is in the process of tendering for a developer to build the homes.

Land is being purchased from McCarthy & Stone who are building nearby on Jebb Court, named after the Jebb sisters who started the Save the Children charity.

The site is just 100 metres from Ellesmere High Street, so close to shops and local amenities including a health centre. It is also situated at the head of the Llangollen canal.

It is hoped that work will start on the affordable homes in the summer and will be complete in 2014.
