Telford & Wrekin men urged to support White Ribbon campaign
Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting men across the borough to sign up to its White Ribbon campaign – a national initiative aimed at ending violence against women.

The council gathered a total of 55 local pledges at the Telford Tigers ice hockey game at the weekend as part of an initial push.
Now the council is urging people to “man up” and take the pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.
Telford & Wrekin Council last year took the decision that it would work to become a White Ribbon Town and is aiming to collect as many pledges as possible before this year’s White Ribbon Day on November 25.
The White Ribbon campaign team will be attending local sports events and everyone who pledges will get a wristband.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Kuldip Sahota said: “Most men are not violent towards women but many of us ignore the problem or see it as something which doesn’t have anything to do with us.
“We are asking men to man up and give us their pledge and encourage family and friends to pledge too. Together we can help spread the message that domestic abuse in any shape or form should not be accepted.”
Anyone who is concerned about domestic abuse and needs advice can contact a 24 hour helpline on 0800 783 1359. Calls are free from landlines.
