Police in Shrewsbury are trying to trace relatives of a 70-year-old man who died after suddenly collapsing.

Relatives of Shrewsbury man sought by police

Mr Richard Holdaway collapsed on the driveway of his home in the Shrewsbury area on March 5.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. A post mortem revealed he died from a heart attack.

Coroner’s officer Mrs Ceri Badham said: “Although we have spoken to a number of Mr Holdaway’s friends and neighbours, we have not been able to find his next of kin.

“I am appealing to anyone who knows Mr Holdaway and has information about any of his relatives to contact our office at Shrewsbury police station by calling 101 and asking for extension 5745.”

She said Mr Holdaway was found on his drive by a member of the public.

“From our inquiries, it seems he lived alone, was not married and to our knowledge had no children. However, we have been told he has a brother called Alex Holdaway who lives outside the area but we have not been able to find him”.

Mrs Badham added: “We would welcome any information which might help us track down a family member.”
