Shropshire couple escape cottage fire near Bridgnorth
A Shropshire couple escaped from their cottage in the early hours of this morning as a fire took hold on the first floor of their property in Worfield near Bridgnorth.

The occupants were alerted by their smoke alarms activation, this gave them the opportunity to escape the blaze and call 999.
Both the occupants were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and shock initially by fire crews and then by Ambulance crews attending.
The importance of having working smoke alarms cannot be exaggerated enough - in this case the alarms may well have saved life.
The fire is under investigation but the cause is not suspicious.
