Cash taken as security guard is robbed in Telford
A security guard was last night attacked and robbed outside a Telford convenience store.

The incident occurred outside the One Stop Shop on Dawley Road.
At just after 8.20pm, as a security guard delivered cash to the store having got out of a transit delivery van, he was approached from behind by three men wearing balaclavas.
The security guard was hit from behind by a wooden implement of some sort – possibly a baseball bat – and immediately fell to the floor. The three men punched and kicked the security guard while he was on the floor and then ripped a cash box from his grasp before making off with it.
The men made off down the side of the shop after stealing the cash box and a short time later the cash box was found discarded in the alleyway off St Giles Close. It appears a significant amount of money – believed to be a five figure sum – was stolen by the thieves.
Detective Inspector Billy Scott, from CID in Telford, said:
“Police were called to the scene immediately and the area around the store was cordoned off so investigative work could start. This work is continuing at the scene this morning.
“The male security guard has been left very shaken by this incident but thankfully he did not suffer any serious injuries.
“Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this robbery and are particularly keen to trace or find out more about three young men or youths who were seen in the bus stop opposite the One Stop Shop just before this robbery occurred.
“Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact police officers in CID in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 326N 020313.
