Police seek couple who helped Shrewsbury assault victim
A couple who stopped to assist a young woman after she was assaulted in Shrewsbury, are being urged to contact police.

Officers investigating the incident believe the couple may have witnessed the assault and could have information which will assist their inquiries.
The 19-year-old woman was punched in the face by a man following an argument in the Chester Street/Benbow Quay area, near the Gateway centre at around 1am on Friday.
Police Constable Ben Oakley said today: “A member of the public pulled over to check on her welfare immediately after the assault. It was a man driving what’s thought to be a green Peugeot car with a female passenger and they offered to call the police and ambulance.
“The couple then drove off without leaving their details. I am appealing to them to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101. They might well be able to help with the investigation.
“It’s unknown if they actually witnessed the assault or just saw that the victim was injured. It seems they were aware something was amiss.”
The victim was treated at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for a nose bleed and bruising to her face but was not seriously injured.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, causing actual bodily harm. He has been given police bail with conditions while inquiries continue.
