Teenager punched in face during unprovoked assault in Shrewsbury
Police today appealed for witnesses to an unprovoked assault on a 15-year-old boy as he made his way home along Whitchurch Road in Shrewsbury.

He was approached by a man who punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The man, who did not speak, then made off.
Police Constable Damian Madeley, the investigating officer, said: “The youth was running along Whitchurch Road opposite the Heathgates pub towards Ditherington Road at about 8.30pm on Thursday April 11.
“Without warning or provocation, a man crossed the road from near to the pub and punched him once fully in the mouth, causing him to fall. He suffered a split bottom lip and a cut to his right elbow but did not require medical treatment.”
The offender, who was wearing a black hoodie and black bottoms, walked off towards Sundorne Road.
PC Madeley said: “I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the offender to contact me at Shrewsbury police station by calling 101.
“It was a nasty, unprovoked attack on an innocent youth who was making his way home. It has left him shocked and somewhat traumatised. Please contact me if you have any knowledge about the incident.”
