Church Stretton gorse fire treated as suspicious
A gorse fire covering 2.5 hectares at Novers Hill, Cwmdale, Church Stretton is being treated as suspicious.
Fire crews from Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Shrewsbury, Tweedale, Telford and Much Wenlock were called to the scene at 5.05pm on Tuesday.
The fire was located in the same area of a similar gorse fire Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to on Wednesday 13th March.
On both occasions there were several seats of fire and we believe they were started deliberately.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said :”These types of fires are labour intensive and, whilst crews are dealing with these incidents, resources from other areas have to be called in to deal with more serious incidents.”
