More than 10,000 people have signed up to the new Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) – just three days after it was launched.

10,000 people sign up to new Telford Loyalty Card

The TLC is Telford & Wrekin Council’s new borough-wide discount card which officially went live on Monday as copies were delivered to homes across the borough inside the Your Voice newspaper.

The new initiative is free of charge and encourages cardholders to get more active and save money on leisure activities and at nearly 90 local businesses.

Residents are asked to register their card at www.telford.gov.uk/tlc to start making the most of some great money saving opportunities and to receive updates on available discounts and associated businesses.

By the end of Wednesday, more than 10,000 cards had already been registered online and at Council leisure centres and First Point reception areas.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services and Co-operative Council, said he was delighted at the response from residents, which was echoed by the number of cards already registered.

“The TLC is a great free initiative that helps people to save money and encourages people get more active.

“Since the launch we have had a lot of positive feedback about the card and to already have 10,000 signed up and many more businesses wanting to join the scheme – it’s fantastic.

“It’s great to be supporting both local residents and local businesses in this way and is a clear example of working co-operatively to boost the local economy.”

The TLC will be available at the grand opening of Telford Ice Rink on Saturday and anyone who registers on the day could be in with the chance of winning a signed poster for Celebrities on Ice and tickets to see the show at Birmingham NIA on Sunday.

Anyone wanting extra cards can pick these up from their nearest council leisure centre or First Point facility.

The TLC is part of the co-operative council programme and is also sponsored by TCAT and AFC Telford United.
